In quest of the pure Moschofilero expression
The Bosinakis family has been involved in winemaking for over 40 years. In 1979, Fotis Bosinakis and his wife, Christina, took over their parents' wine distribution business. In 1992, they founded the eponymous winery in the Mantinia plateau, driven by their love of wine and their homeland.
The Bosinakis winery is located in the heart of Mantinia, at an altitude of 660 meters, in the small village of Steno. The estate's vineyards are located in three villages in Arcadia: Steno, Lithovounia and Agiorgitika. The climate of the region is temperate, with warm summers and cool winters, while the soils are sandy and limestone.
The estate's main grape variety is Moschofilero and the grapes are grown using organic practices. The Bosinakis family has contributed to the promotion of this local variety, playing a significant role in raising awareness of its potential and in the development of new and innovative winemaking methods.
The new generation has taken over the helm of the winery, with Sotiris, Katerina and Konstantinos Bosinakis leading the effort for quality wine and the promotion of Mantinia as a major wine-producing region. Today, the estate's average annual production reaches 65,000 bottles.
Various winemaking techniques are used at the estate to produce the wines, including methods such as cryo-extraction, fermentation in stainless steel tanks, as well as techniques such as extended skin contact and malolactic fermentation. Experiments are also being carried out with different oak barrels for the aging of their wines.
Through the efforts of families like Bosinakis, the timelessly popular Moschofilero has gained increasing respect, both in Greece and abroad.
The estate is open to visitors. Visitors can tour the vineyards, visit the winery and sample the estate's wines.
